DHAKA: Researcher and writer Dr Sonia Nishat Amin received ‘Ananya’ literary award for 2015.

Eminent novelist Selina Hossain handed over the award to Nishat at the award-giving ceremony at Chhayanaut auditorium in city’s Dhanmondi area on Saturday afternoon.

After receiving the award Dr Sonia said that contribution of women in society has been ignored since centuries. ‘They had been kept away from creative works,’ she commented.

Selina Hossain in her speech as chief guest said the society that overlooks the history of women cannot develop properly.

About Sonia’s writing the novelist opined that the researcher-writer has properly upheld the history of women in her literary works.

Chaired by Tasmima Hossain, the award giving ceremony also featured cultural presentation.
