DHAKA: News24, a news-based round-the-clock HD satellite television channel of East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL), has begun its test transmission on Friday evening (March 25).
Country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan inaugurated the experimental broadcasting.
Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said the news channel will present latest news and views about positive Bangladesh.
The news channel will work to uphold the spirit of Liberation War of Bangladesh, he added.
Bashundhara Group vice-chairman Safayet Sobhan and additional managing director Safwan Sobhan also were present in the ceremony.
Wishing success for the newly launched TV channel, Banglanews24.com’s editor-in-chief Alamgir Hossain said this is a tough task but sincere direction can bring success rapidly.
Dainik Kaler Kantha editor Imdadul Haque Milon, Daily Sun editor Jamilur Rahman, organizing secretary of ruling Awami League Ahmed Hossain, self-reliance affairs secretary of BNP Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, former secretary general of Jatiya Party Ziauddin Bablu, retired chief justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, former commissioner of anti corruption commissioner Sahabuddin Chuppu, former IGP Nur Muhammad, Rahmat Ullah, MP, HM Ibrahim, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s personal secretary Mahbubul Haque Shakil, security analyst Major General (retd) Mohammad Ali Sikder, singer Haider Hossain, former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Shafi Ahmed and Prime Minister’s press wing officer Ashraful Alam Khokon were also, among others, present here.
The channel is expected to go on regular broadcasting soon.
A milad-mahfil was followed by the inauguration.
