DHAKA: Bangladesh Book Fair in India's Kolkata is set to begin on September 1 and will continue till September 10.
With collaboration of the Ministry Of Cultural Affairs, the 6th book fair has been arranged to introduce the Bangladeshi books and writers to west Bengal.
Cultural Affairs secretary Akhtari Momtaz highlighted the overall issues of fair in a press conference at Information Department at Secretariat on Monday (August 29).
She said 50 Bangladeshi publishers will participate in the fair at the premises of Rabindra Sadan and the event included some seminars as well.
Emeritus professor Anisuzzaman will inaugurate the fair on September 1 around 5.00pm while the West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee will attend as chief guest.
Prominent poet and essayist Shankha Ghosh will also attend as honorable guest, he added.
A cultural program will be arranged where Lalon singer Farida Parveen and Meher Afroz Shaon are expected to perform.
Academic and Creative Publishers Association of Bangladesh with the assistance of National Book Center and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Bangladesh will organize the fair that will be supervised by Bangladesh deputy commission of Kolkata.
Director of National Book Center M Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of Academic and Creative Publishers Association of Bangladesh Usman Ghani and its vice chairman Mazharul Islam were presented at the press conference.
