DHAKA: National Nabanna Festival will be celebrated on the first day of Bangla month Agrahayan that falls on Tuesday (November 15).
Jatiya Nabanna Utsab Udjapan Parshad, a national committee of nabanna celebration, will arrange the event with the assistance of Labaid.
The festival will simultaneously be arranged at Bakultala of Dhaka University’s fine arts faculty and Rabindra Sarabar in Dhanmondi in city on the day.
Eminent language veteran and also finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will inaugurate the festival at Bakultala at 7:01am to be attended by Parshad chairperson Laila Hasan, convener Shahriar Salam and Labaid managing director Dr AM Shamim.
A procession will be brought out from the faculty premises around 9:00am.
The nabanna celebration will resume at Bakultala and Rabindra Sarabar at 3:00pm and continue till 8:00pm.
Shahriar Salam, in his written speech, made the disclosure at a press conference at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in city on Saturday (November 12).
He demanded the government to declare the first day of Agrahayan a national holiday so that people can enjoy nabanna, the traditional harvest festival of this agrarian society.
Moreover, winners of children art competition, held on November 11, will get certificates on Tuesday. Artworks of the participants will also be displayed at the festival ground.
