DHAKA: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), in association with Shadhona, a centre for the advancement of South Asian culture hosted a splendid Bharathanatyam, the supreme Indian classical dance program at its own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka on April 22.
Bharathanatyam prodigy Kirti Ramgopal, acclaimed as one of the brightest talents of Bharathanatyam in her generation, performed in the program, says a press release issued by the university.
During one-and-a-half-hour-long aesthetic portray of untiring vitality and fervor, this eminent artiste showcased neat technique, strong stance and ignited facial expressions through her graceful presentation of Mallari, Alarippu, Astapadi and Tillana.
Extremely talented and highly reputed performer Kirti Ramgopal not only performed outstandingly but also synchronized with the audience through the soulfulness of her performance. A captivating ambience was prevailing all around the auditorium to make the audience spellbound.
With her keen ability to understand and imbibe the nuances of this beautiful art form and with her perseverance and dedication, Kriti has traveled across India and internationally throughout US, Canada, UK, Europe, the Middle East and Bangladesh performing before discerning audiences and winning acclaim from connoisseurs of art and critics alike.
She creates incandescent Natyam with her abundance of lively skill, geometric aptness, nimbleness and grace and sensitivity in delivery. Her dancing has been described as vibrant, expressive and that which extends a spirit of Joy.
Bharathanatyam evening at IUB was enjoyed by many revered audiences that included Rashed Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB; Towhid Samad, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Chittagong Independent University; A. K. Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Finance Committee, Board of Trustees; Wajid Ali Khan Panni, Member, Board of Trustees; S M Al-Husainy, Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, Chttagong Independent University; Nilufer Zafarullah, MP, Member, ESTCDT; A Quaiyum Khan, Member, Board of Trustees; Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB; Deans and senior members of the faculty and management of IUB, eminent cultural personalities and dignitaries.
After the program, IUB gave token of appreciations to the highly skilled dancer Kirti Ramgopal and representatives of Shadhona.
