DHAKA: Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, who was arrested over allegedly spreading rumor during the early August road safety protests, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Monday (August 13).
She was admitted to the hospital around 10:15pm.
She is undergoing treatment at the ward no.204 of neurosurgery department.
“Nawshaba has been diagnosed with some problems in her spinal cord, surfaced in the MRI report,” a physician on-duty at DMCH ward no.100 told Banglanews.
“Senior physicians will treat her thoroughly, after analyzing her conditions. Nawshaba has problems in her spinal cord since before,” the physician added.
Earlier, she was taken to DMCH under custody of Detective Branch (DB) police around 3:30pm.
She then told physicians that she was suffering from dysentery and troubled walking.
The physicians asked for a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan for her, which was later conducted at a private hospital.
Seeing the report, the physicians admitted Nawshaba to the hospital, at the night.
DMCH Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia told Banglanews that actress Nawshaba is undergoing treatment, and is guarded by police.
On the same day, a Dhaka court ordered Nawshaba to go to jail, rejecting bail petition after completion of her two-phase remand in a case filed under ICT Act.
Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, mostly famed for her appearance in Bangladesh’s first-ever cop action thriller Dhaka Attack (2017), was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Dhaka’s Uttara area on August 4 on charge of spreading rumors using Facebook Live option about the students’ movement.
