GAZIPUR: Celebrated Bangladeshi litterateur Humayun Ahmed was remembered amid festive arrangements in Nuhash Polli in Gazipur sadar upazila, to mark his 70th birthday Tuesday (Nov 13).
Some 2,500 candles were lit as the clock hits 12:01am.
Humayun’s wife Meher Afroz Shaon cut the cake accompanying sons Nishad and Ninid, relatives and fans, early in the morning.
Flowers were placed to the writer’s graveyard and a ziarat was offered praying eternal peace for the mystic soul.
Pigeons were also flown up to mark the auspicious birthday of the ‘Pen Wizard’ who was also a dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter and scholar.
Humayun Ahmed was born in Kutubpur village under Kendua Upazila in Netrokona District on Nov 13, 1948. He passed away on July 19, 2012 losing battle with cancer.
He was buried in his very Nuhsash Palli.
