DHAKA: Renowned drama and film director Saidul Anam Tutul has died while undergoing treatment in Labaid hospital in Dhanmondi Tuesday (Dec 18).
He was 68.
He breathed his last around 3:30pm.
He was on life support.
Directors’ Guild Secretary General SA Haque Olike confirmed the matter to banglanews, quoting the deceased’s family.
Tutul was hospitalized after he had suffered a cardiac arrest around 2am Monday (Dec 16).
His burial will be held on Wednesday (Dec 19), said Olike.
Saidul Anam Tutul started his career as an editor. He was a director and actor at the same time. He made his directorial debut through government financed 2003 film Adhiyar.
His latest ‘Kalbela’ was also funded by the government in 2017-18 fiscal year.
He won National Film Award in Best Editor category for 1979 film ‘Surja Dighal Bari’.
Ghuddi (1980), Dahan (1986), Dipu Number Two (1996) and Dukhai (1997) are some other films he worked in.
