DHAKA: The 17th edition of Dhaka International Film Festival will open Thursday (Jan 10).
The festival will continue for 9 days, till 18th of January.
Rainbow Film Society, organizer of the fest, arranged a press briefing at Dhaka Club to make the announcement Wednesday (Jan 9).
Festival director Ahmed Mujtaba Kamal, actor Ilias Kanchan, organizing committee members M Hamid, chief programmer of the festival Zoreh Jamin, among others, were present.
Former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is scheduled to inaugurate the festival, chaired by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam.
A total of 218 films from 72 countries will be screened in the festival.
Curtain of the festival will be opened through screening ‘The Guest’, a joint venture film of Turkey and Jordan.
