DHAKA: Ekushey Padak winning lyricist Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard in the city on Wednesday (Jan 23) afternoon.
The decision has been taken as per wish of Samir Ahmed, only son of Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.
Bulbul's body has been taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) morgue on Tuesday night.
He will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11:00 am on Wednesday to pay tribute by people from all walks of life to the music legend, said Shahidullah Forayeji, eminent lyricist.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Johr prayers at Dhaka University Central Mosque on the day while second Janaza will be held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
Then, Bulbul will be laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Mirpur.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul passed away at a city hospital early on Tuesday (Jan 22). He was 63.
After Bulbul suffered a heart attack at his Aftabnagar residence around 4:00 am, he was taken to Ayesha Memorial Hospital in city’s Mohakhali area where doctors declared him dead around 5:30am.
