DHAKA: People from all walks of life have paid their last respects to Ekushey Padak-winning lyricist Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul at Central Shaheed Minar.
Guard of honour has been given to the composer and music director Bulbul at Shaheed Minar premises at 11 am on Wednesday (January 23).
Different political parties, social and cultural organizations and freedom fighters paid respects to him among thousands of people.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud also attended the solemn procession.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Johr prayers at Dhaka University Central Mosque on the day while second Janaza will be held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
Then, Bulbul will be laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Mirpur.
Bulbul suffered a heart attack at his Aftabnagar residence around 4:00 am on Tuesday (Jan 22).
He was, then, taken to Ayesha Memorial Hospital in city’s Mohakhali area where doctors declared him dead around 5:30am on the same day.
He aged 63.
