DHAKA: Eminent composer and music director Alauddin Ali has been hospitalised with respiratory illness on Tuesday (Jan 22) midnight.
He was taken at Ayesha Memorial Hospital in city’s Mohakhali area around 11:30pm after he fell ill, said Farzana Mimi, wife of the noted musician.
Later, Alauddin Ali was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, she added.
Over the phone, Mimi told Banglanews that he could not accent the sudden death of renowned lyricist Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul. After hearing the news, he has repeatedly recalled the memories of Bulbul. Besides, he has been suffering from respiratory problems for long.
He was born at Banshbari village in Munshiganj district on December 24 in 1952. Ustad Jadob Ali was father of Alauddin Ali.
Ali made his debut as a music composer through the film Shondhikkhon in 1974.
He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for five times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990).
