DHAKA: Celebrated lyricist-composer-music director Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul was laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Dhaka Wednesday (Jan 23) evening.
Bulbul, also a Freedom Fighter, was buried around 7:30pm.
Earlier, his body was kept at Central Shaheed Minar to place tributes from all walks of life, in the morning. He was given a guard of honor, around 11am.
Different socio-cultural organizations, political parties and Freedom Fighters paid deep respect to the maestro.
His three namaz-e-janazas were held at Dhaka University (DU) central mosque, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and Mirpur Intellectuals’ Graveyard.
Bulbul suffered a heart attack at his Aftabnagar residence in Dhaka at early hours of Tuesday (Jan 22).
He was immediately taken to Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Mohakhali where the physicians pronounced him dead around 5:30am.
The 62-year-old musician won a number of awards, including Ekushey Padak, National Film Awards and the President's Award for his contribution to Bangla music.
He joined the Bangladesh Liberation War at the age of 15.
