DHAKA: Four personalities have been named as winners of the Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar 2018.
Poet Habibullah Siraji, director general of Bangla Academy, announced the names at a press briefing at the academy's Munir Chowdhury auditorium on Monday (Jan 28).
The winners are Kazi Rosy (poetry), writer and researcher Mohit Kamal (literature), Syed Mohamamd Shahed (essay and research), Afsan Chowdhury (literature on Liberation War).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would hand over the awards to the recipients in the upcoming Book Fair on February 1.
Bangla Academy DG said out of 10 categories, this year personalities have been named for Bangla Academy award from four categories--poetry, fiction, research and literature on Liberation War.
Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar (Bangla Academy Literary Award) is given in recognition of creative genius in advancement and overall contribution in the field of Bengali language and literature.
