DHAKA: Celebrated singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah was buried at Banani Military Graveyard following a Namaz-e-Janaza at a Baridhara mosque after Johr prayer.
The Namaz-e-Janaza held at 2:45 pm Sunday (March 24).
Shahnaz Rahmatullah died of a heart attack at her Baridhara residence in the capital city around 12am on Sunday (March 24).
She was aged 67.
Shahnaz Rahmatullah was born on January 2 of 1952. She rose to fame with her melodious voice and unique singing style.
Four of her songs were placed among the BBC Top 20 Bangla Songs of All Time.
‘Ek Nodi Rokto Periye’, ‘Ekbar Jete De Na Amar Chotto Sonar Gaaye’, ‘Ektara Tui Desher Katha’, ‘Aamay Jodi Proshno Kore’ and ‘Je Chhilo Dristir Simanay,’ to name but a few.
She was awarded with Ekushey Padak in 1992 and National Film Awards (for the best female singer) in 1990.
