Tele Samad’s janaza held at BFDC

DHAKA: The fourth Namaz-e-Janaza of renowned comedian and film actor Tele Samad was held on the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

Earlier, his body was taken to BFDC premises at 11:10am on Sunday (April 7) and janaza was held in front of Jahir Raihan VIP Projection here at 12:30pm.

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, film actors Akbar Pathan Faruk MP, Alamgir, Zayed Khan, film director Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, film actors Amit Hasan, Samrat, Aliraj, film actress Anjana, Nasrin, singer Fakir Alamgir, others came to the BFDC to see Tele-Samad for the last time. 

Tributes were paid here to Tele Samad by the Ministry of Information, BFDC, Producers Association, Artists Association and a number of organizations by placing floral wreaths at his body.

After his janaza, his body was taken to his ancestral village Noyagaon in Munshiganj.  He will be laid to eternal rest in his family graveyard.

Earlier on Saturday, his first namaz-e-janaza was held at the Takowa Mosque of Dhanmondi after Magrib prayers. Then second one was held at west Rajabazar Mosque after Esha and the third one was held at Dilu Road of Magbazar around 10:30 pm.

Earlier on April 6, film actor Tele Samad has passed away at Square Hospital in the capital city. 

The legendary actor breathed his last at 1:30 pm, Sohela Samad, daughter of the deceased, confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

He died at the age of 74.

Tele Samad was born in Munshiganj on January 8 of 1945. He acted in over 600 films.

Samad made his debut in 1973 with film Kar Bou, but made breakthrough in the film Paye Choler Poth.

He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University.
