DHAKA: The government set deadline April 15 for Jadoo Vision Ltd and Nationwide Media Ltd to stop airing local advertisements on foreign television channels.
The two downlink licence bearer service providers laundered Tk 600 crore by airing ads in last 13 years, said Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.
The minister revealed the information at a meeting with Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) Wednesday (April 10) noon.
The government earlier ordered authorities concerned to stop airing local ads on foreign TV channels from April 1.
Jadoo Vision Ltd and Nationwide Media Ltd then sought 15-day time.
The two service providers won’t be allowed airing any sorts of ads, not only the local ones, as per the law, said the minister.
Maasranga Television Managing Director Anjan Chowdhury led the TV channel owners at the meeting with the minister Wednesday.
