DHAKA: Prominent playwright, director and actor Momtazuddin Ahmed passed away due to old-age complications at a city hospital on Sunday (June 2).
He breathed his last at Apollo Hospital at 3.48pm, Professor Ratan Siddque, long time friend of Momtazuddin Ahmed told Banglanews.
Momtazuddin Ahmed is active in the field of culture, performance, literature and other socio- political activities. He was one of the famous and successful Bangladeshi satire theatre activists and educationists.
Born in Jan 18, 1935 at Bholahat in Chapainawabganj, he completed masters in Bengali literature. Momtazuddin Ahmed played a significant role in the Language Movement and the War of Independence.
He also worked at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board apart from teaching Bengalee, Bengalee literature and European drama in several non-government and government colleges for at least 32 years.
