DHAKA: Noted actress and playwright-director-producer Falguni Hamid was elected president of BACHSAS (Bangladesh Cholochitra Sangbadik Samity).

Kamruzzaman Babu was elected secretary general.

Voting to the biennial election took place at Jatiya Press Club from 12pm to 6pm Friday (July 26). The results came out Saturday (July 27).    

Falguni bagged 365 votes to beat her nearest rival Kazi Faruq Bablu with 86 votes. Babu bagged 161 to beat Shopoth Chowdhury with 159.

Badol Ahmed, Saikat Salauddin, Raju Alim and Robin Shams were elected vice presidents.

A total of 46 candidates ran in the polls against 21 different posts.

A total of 539 voters were supposed to exercise their franchise.
