DHAKA: The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Radio Asia Conference and Radio Song Festival-2019 will be held in Dhaka from October 29 to October 31.

The three-day festival will be organized by the Ministry of Information in collaboration with Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television, said a press note on Wednesday (August 28).

For this, a meeting regarding the overall management committee of the conference was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 27).

Information Secretary Abdul Malek, Bangladesh Television Director-General SM Harun-Or-Rashid, Chief Information Officer of the Directorate of Information Surat Kumar Sarkar, and representatives from various ministries and committee members attended the meeting, with State Minister of Information Dr. Murad Hasan in the chair.

In the meeting, the attendees discussed the various steps taken to organize the conference successfully. The State Minister urged all sub-committees to discharge their duties properly to make the conferences and festival a success.

Currently, 272 broadcasting companies in 76 countries are members of the ABU. Since its establishment in 1964, this union has been working to develop broadcast media around the world including Asia-Pacific region through implementation of various regional and international cooperation programs.
