DHAKA: A sculpture of guitar which was modeled after Bangladesh's rock legend Ayub Bachchu’s Rupali Guitar at the Probortok intersection of Chattogram, will open on Wednesday (September 18) evening.
The Probortok More of Chattogram city has been declared as Ayub Bachchu Chottor in the memory of the late legend singer.
The plaque of Ayub Bachchu Chottor will also be opened today, just a month before the death anniversary of the music legend.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin will inaugurate the sculpture in the evening.
The sculpture featured the 18-foot-high guitar, made of steel and having six strings.
Ayub Bachchu, who popularised rock music in Bangladesh alongside his band LRB (Love Runs Blind), died of cardiac arrest on October 18, 2018. He was buried at the Chaitanya Gali graveyard in the port city on October 20.
Ayub Bachchu created the LRB on April 7. The first band was named 'Little River Band (LRB). Later, the name was changed to 'Love Runs Blind (LRB)' in 1997.
He composed blockbuster hit songs like Cholo Bodley Jai, Hashtey Dekho Gaite Dekho, Rupali Guitar, Ekhon Onek Raat.
