DHAKA: Actor Misha Sawdagor has been re-elected president while Zayed Khan newly elected general secretary of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti in the biennial election.
The Misha-Zayed panel won 18 out of 21 posts and will lead the association till 2021.
Ilias Kanchan, the election commission chief, announced the results around 1am on Saturday (Oct 26) after daylong voting (from 9:07am to 5:07pm) at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Dhaka.
Misha bagged 227 votes and his rival independent candidate Arifa Pervin Zaman Moushumi got 125 votes. Zayed Khan secured 284 votes while his nearest rival Ilias Cobra got only 68.
Dipjol and Rubel were elected vice presidents. Arman was elected assistant vice-president.
Actor Mamunun Emon elected international affairs secretary, Zakir Hossain elected sports and cultural affairs secretary. Actor Subrata was elected organising secretary unopposed. Jackie Alamgir and Farhad Hossain were the only candidates for the posts of office and publicity secretary, and treasurer respectively.
Ten executive members are - Aruna Bishwas, Anjana, Afzal Sharif, Asif Iqbal, Alexandar Bow, Rozina, Nasrin, Maruf Akib, Joy Chowdhury and Jasmine.
