DHAKA: Poet Gultekin Khan, the ex-wife of legendary writer Humayun Ahmed, reportedly got married to an additional secretary and poet Aftab Ahmed around two weeks ago, but it came to light on Wednesday (November 13), according to media reports.

News of their marriage is circulating in various social networking sites. Netizens are uploading photos of this newly-wed couple. 

This joyful event took place at Gultekin’s residence in Dhaka. After being married, the bride flew to America.  The post-nuptial reception will be held after two weeks when she returns to Dhaka again.

Gultekin Khan married writer Humayun Ahmed in 1973 while studying at Dhaka University. Together they had three daughters and a son. She separated from Humayun Ahmed in 2003.  Humayun Ahmed then got married to Shawon in 2005. Humayun Ahmed died of cancer in 2012.

Gultikin got involved in a friendship with Aftab Ahmed, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The friendship blossomed into love. Aftab Ahmed, the father of an only child studying in London, also got separated from his barrister wife 10 years ago.
