Renowned dancer Zeenat Barkatullah has been put on ventilator support in the ICU at a private hospital in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Nrittoshilpi Shongstha President Minu Haque confirmed the matter to media on Saturday night.

Quoting Zeenat's daughter Bijori Barkatullah, Minu said the dancer is undergoing treatment at the hospital from December 22. Later she was transferred to ICU as her condition deteriorated.

However, she tested negative for coronavirus, Minu added. 

Bijori Barkatullah herself posted a status update on her facebook page on Saturday evening. In the post, she wrote: “I ask everyone to pray for my mother. Almighty Allah Rahmanur Rahim have mercy on my mother and heal her pain. The greatest in the world can do any miracle “He is The One Who Heals the sick. All praise is due to Allah the Healer of the world.”

Zeenat's husband, Mohammad Barkatullah, passed away in the capital's Green Life Hospital on August 3 this year. He was infected with Covid-19.
