Namita Ghosh, the first female musician of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Friday night.
She breathed her last at city’s Popular Hospital while undergoing treatment.
Namita joined the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra as an artiste during the Liberation War in 1971 at the age of 14.
Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, the radio station run by the Bangladesh government in exile, kept the spirit of the nation alive during the nine months of the Liberation War of 1971.
On July 22, 2020, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated Tk21 lakh for the cancer and eye treatment of Namita Ghosh.
