Actress Elina Shammi will play the role of Khaleda Zia in the upcoming Bangabandhu biopic, co-produced by the governments of Bangladesh and India.

Elina Shammi herself confirmed the matter to media.

She said: "I signed a contract on Monday to be part of the Bangabandhu biopic film directed by Bollywood's famous producer Shyam Benegal. This will surely be one of the most monumental films and I am glad to be part of such prestigious history.”

The shooting of her part will begin on December 6, she informed.

In the biopic, actor Arifin Shuvoo will play the role of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, while Nusraat Faria will play the role of Bangabandhu's daughter and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

In other vital roles, Nusrat Imroz Tisha (Fazilatunnesa), Raisul Islam Asad (Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani), Ferdous Ahmed (Tajuddin Ahmed), and Misa Sawdagar (General Ayub Khan) have been cast.
