Film actress Nipun on Tuesday filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order that stayed the appellate board's decision declaring her as general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) cancelling candidacy of film actor Zayed Khan.
The actress also sought stay on the HC order in the petition.
According to her petition, no writ petition is acceptable against the election Appellate Board's decision as it is not a government organisation.
Chamber judge Obaidul Hassan fixed Wednesday (Feb 9) for hearing on the petition.
On Monday, a HC bench stayed the appellate board's decision which cancelled Zayed Khan’s candidacy for a week.
On February 5, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, head of the appellate division, announced Zayed Khan and executive panel member Chunnu, disqualified for allegedly breaching the code of conduct under section 10 of the election rules.
The election authorities on January 28 declared Zayed Khan BFAA general secretary for the tenure of 2022-24.
