Famous Bangladeshi novelist and journalist Dilara Hashem passed away on Saturday (March 19) afternoon in Maryland, USA at the age of 86.
Her first novel, ‘Ghar Mon Janala’, was published in 1965 and was converted into a film in 1973. In 1982, she joined the Bangla section of the Voice of America.
As a novelist, Dilara Hashem has left her mark on her rare and exceptional talent. Her famous novels are Ekoda and Ananta (1975), Stobdhotar Kane Kane (1977), Amlokir Mou (1978), Shankho Korat (1995) etc.
She was adorned with the Bangla Academy Award in 1986 in recognition of her special contribution to the arena of Bengali literature.
Dilara Hashem was born on August 21 in 1936 in Jashore.
