Dengue: 4 dead, 2,694 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least four dengue patients died while 2,694 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (July 31), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,168 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 526 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

All the deceased were from Dhaka, it added.

Besides, this year a total 251 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 5,011 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,375 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 51,832 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 29, 200 were in Dhaka and 23,632 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 42,195 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 23,993 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 18,200 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
