Dengue: 12 dead, 2,711 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 2,711 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 2), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,130 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,581 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 273 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,869 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,456 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 57,127 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 31,461 were in Dhaka and 25,666 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 47,529 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 26,375 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 21,154 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
