Dengue: 10 dead, 2,589 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 10 dengue patients died while 2,589 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 3), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,101 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,488 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 283 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,650 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,560 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 59,716 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 32,562 were in Dhaka and 27,154 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 50,223 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 27,686 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 22,537 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
