Dengue: 10 dead, 1,757 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least ten dengue patients died while 1,757 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 4), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 892 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 865 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 293 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,568 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,458 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 61,473 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 33,454 were in Dhaka and 28,019 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 52,154 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 28,652 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 23,502 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
