Dengue: 14 dead, 2,751 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least fourteen dengue patients died while 2,751 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 7), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,119 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,632 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 327 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,652 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,920 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 69,483 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 36,720 were in Dhaka and 32,763 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 59,589 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 31,810 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 27,774 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
