Dengue: 13 dead, 2,742 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least thirteen dengue patients died while 2,742 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 8), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,002 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,740 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 340 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,482 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,981 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 72,225 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 37,722 were in Dhaka and 34,503 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 62,422 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 32,971 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 29,451 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
