At least nine dengue patients died while 2,046 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 11), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 853 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,193 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 373 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,421 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,254 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 80,074 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 40,764 were in Dhaka and 39,310 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 70,026 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 36,054 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 33,972 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
