Dengue: 11 dead, 2,327 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 11 dengue patients died while 2,327 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 27), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 920 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,407 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 548 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,945 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,354 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 14,511 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 54,409 were in Dhaka and 60,102 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 05,664 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 50,060 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 55,604 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
