Dengue: 4 dead, 1,534 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 4 dengue patients died while 1,534 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 1), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 589 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 945 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 597 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,818 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,530 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 25,342 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 58,610 were in Dhaka and 66,672 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 16,397 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 54,353 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 62,044 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
