Dengue: 12 dead, 2,823 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 2,823 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 4), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,005 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,818 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 646 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,052 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,017 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 33,134 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 61,489 were in Dhaka and 71,645 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 23,419 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 56,969 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 66,450 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
