Dengue: 10 dead, 2,748 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 10 dengue patients died while 2,748 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 9), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,051 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,697 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 716 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,411 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,787 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 45,335 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 66,065 were in Dhaka and 79,270 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 34,421 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 61,141 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 73,280 others left hospitals outside the capital. 
    
Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
