Dengue: 11 dead, 2956 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 11 dengue patients died while 2,956 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 12), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 911 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,045 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 752 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,222 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,793 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 54,228 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 68,937 were in Dhaka and 85,291 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 43,461 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 64,184 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 79,277 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
