Dengue: 14 dead, 2,865 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 14 dengue patients died while 2,865 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 23), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 814 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,051 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 893 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, 3,794 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,778 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 84,717 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 78,103 were in Dhaka and 1, 06,614 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,73,252 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 73,713 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 99,539 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
