At least 16 dengue patients died while 3,008 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 24), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the 24 hours, 812 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,196 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.
Besides, this year a total of 909 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.
According to DGHS, 3,794 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,676 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.
A total of 1, 87,725 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 78,915 were in Dhaka and 1, 08,810 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.
As many as 1,76,346 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 74,518 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,01828 others left hospitals outside the capital.
Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
