Dengue: 15 dead, 2,950 hospitalised in a day

At least 15 dengue patients died while 2,950 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 27), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 726 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,224 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 958 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 1, 96,831 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 81,216 were in Dhaka and 1, 15,615 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,85,906 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 77,054 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,08,852 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 3,538 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,429 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
