Dengue death toll rises to 1,086 as 7 more die in 24 hours

At least seven dengue patients died while 2,742 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 8), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 612 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,130 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,086 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,23,564 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 88,194 were in Dhaka and 1, 35,370 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,13,678 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 84,683 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,28,995 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,826 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,974 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
