Dengue: 9 more die, 2,056 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least nine dengue patients died while 2,056 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 22), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 500 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,556 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,255 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,55,046 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 95,530 were in Dhaka and 1,59,516 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,43,630 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 92,572 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,53,542 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,189 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,488 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
