Dengue: 17 more die, 2,014 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 17 dengue patients died while 2,014 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 23), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 454 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,560 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,272 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,57,060 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 95,989 were in Dhaka and 1,61,076 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,48,199 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 93,108 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,55,091 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,097 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,492 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
