Bangladesh records 14 new dengue cases in 24-hour

At least 14 people were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 26), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Wednesday morning, said the DGHS release.

In the 24 hours, six dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while eight dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, it added.

Besides, this year, a total of 14 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 959 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 335 were in Dhaka and 624 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 813 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 280 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 533 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 47 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 85 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
