Hospitals in Bangladesh have recorded 14 new cases of dengue fever in 24 hours till 8 am today (February 11), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Saturday morning, said the DGHS release.

In the 24 hours, 5 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 9 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, it added.

Besides, this year, a total of 16 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 1,224 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 421 were in Dhaka and 803 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,093 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 358 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 735 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 53 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 62 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
