As many as 1200 poor and distressed patients received free eye treatment at Bancharampur Govt SM Pilot High School premises in Brahmanbaria for free on Friday (Feb 23).
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI), an ophthalmic venture of the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, in association with Vision Care Foundation, and Rotary Club of Baridhara Sunrise arranged the eye treatment camp.
Senior eye specialist and BEHRI ophthalmologist Dr. Anthony Albert and Dr. Akter Ferdousi Jahan, Optometrist Rubel Rana including 12 others took part in the medical camp.
BEHRI camp organizer Abu Towab said that about 1200 patients were diagnosed from 9 am to 4 pm.
He said among the patients eye examination, spectacles and necessary medicines were provided for free.
Those with eye problems other than cataracts will be taken to Bashundhara Eye Hospital in Dhaka for free operation, he said.
Rotary Club of Baridhara Sunrise Joint Secretary Mia Mohammad Momen said Bashundhara Eye Hospital has provided all kinds of support to deliver free medical treatment to the marginal people of Bancharampur who cannot afford to go to the capital for treatment.
“If they continue this activity, we will serve the people of the village every year on behalf of the club,” he also added.
