The Bashundhara Eye Hospital & Research Institute (BEHRI) and Vision Care Foundation provided free eye treatment to the needy at Shikarpur village under Burichang upazila in Cumilla.
Some 300 people underwent free eye treatment at a day-long eye camp at the Jamia Noor Muhammadia Orphanage Complex in the area on Friday (May 17).
Of the total patients, 100 have been provided with free glasses, while 40 will receive free eye cataract and flesh augmentation surgery, according to a press release.
A team of 10 experts, led by BEHRI founder and director Dr Saleh Ahmed, conducted the camp.
Prof Saleh Ahmed said that former secretary Azizul Haque Bhuiyan, who hails from Shikarpur village, asked us to organise an eye camp in his own village.
“We respond to that call and serve people once a year for several years for free in the institution he founded,” he added.
It may be mentioned that Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute started providing eye treatment free of charge since 2014.
